Join a group
Someone shares the group's link or QR code with you. Open it and you're in, or you've asked to be.

Group links look like groupycalendar.com/join/K7PQ2MXH. Tap one in a text, chat or email and Groupy opens on the group. For a QR code, point your iPhone Camera at it and tap Open in Groupy — or, in Groupy, tap + → Join Group or Event → Scan a QR code and point the phone at the other person's screen. New to Groupy? Invited to a one-off event?
Some links are for a single event rather than a group, like a party or a pickup game. The link shows the event, when and where it is, and who's hosting. Tap I'm in and you're counted as coming: it lands on your calendar with a green check and a reminder before it starts, and the host hears you're in. There's nothing else to answer, though you can say who you're bringing. Only the host sees who's coming; other guests can't see you. To drop out, open the event and tap Leave this event.
Public or private?
A public group shows its name and how many people are in it, and Join adds you right away. A private group shows its name and description, and Request to join sends a request to the group. Someone there lets you in, usually the person who sent you the link, and you get a notification the moment they do.
Nothing happening? Give the group a little time; they approve requests by hand. If it's urgent, nudge whoever shared the link. You can ask again at any point.
Or enter the code by hand
Tap +, then Join Group or Event. Under Have a code?, type the 8 characters from the end of the link (they're printed under the QR code too) and tap Join with code.
The + button sits at the bottom right of every main screen.

Joining a public group
Teams, clubs and bands often make their group public. Besides the link and QR code, you can search by name: tap + → Join Group or Event and type the name under Find a public group, then tap Join.
Private groups never appear in search. For those you need the link or code from a member.
Common questions
It says the link isn't valid any more.
An admin reset the group's link, so the old one (and its QR code) stopped working. Ask someone in the group to share the new one.
I asked to join and nothing happened.
Your request is waiting for a member to approve it. Groupy notifies them; once someone taps Approve you get a notification and the group appears on your Groups tab. If they declined, you won't be told, but you can open the link and ask again.
I joined but don't see any events.
The group may not have anything coming up yet. Check the Calendar tab, and make sure the group isn't filtered out: tap the All groups button at the top of Home or Calendar and check that it's selected.
How do I leave a group?
Open the group from the Groups tab, scroll to the bottom and tap Leave group, then tap again to confirm. If you're the group's only admin, the member who has been there longest becomes admin. If you're the last member, the group is deleted.
