Add events
Post something once and everyone in the group sees it. Here's how to add one-time and repeating events, see who's going, and get events into your iPhone Calendar.
+ → Create Event → title, group, time → Post
Tap + and choose Create Event
You can start a new event from Home or the Calendar tab. You'll need to be in at least one group first.
The + button sits at the bottom right of every main screen.
Say what's happening and where it goes
- What is happening? A short title like Game night or Grandma's 80th.
- Who's it for? Check one or more groups; everyone in each group you check will see the event. Or pick Just this event for something without a group, like a party or a one-time game: the event gets its own link and QR code, and whoever opens it is in.
- What kind? Party, Trip, Outing, Show, Meetup, Sports or Other. This sets the event's icon and color.
Set the time and place
Set Starts and Ends. For trips and birthdays, turn on All day and pick the first and last day. Add an address under Where? (Groupy suggests matching places as you type) and an optional note, like bring a dish to share.
Make it repeat (optional)
Under Repeats?, choose Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly (for birthdays and anniversaries). You can repeat every few weeks, pick the days of the week for weekly events, and end the series on a date or after a number of times. Weekly practice every Tuesday and Thursday until the season ends takes one event.
Tap Post
The button at the bottom says where the event is going, such as Post to The Parkers. Everyone in that group sees it on Home and in Calendar, and gets a notification if they've turned notifications on. Members also get a reminder before it starts, unless they've replied Can't go. Each person picks when in their profile: 1 hour before is the default, or 15 or 30 minutes, 2 hours, or the night before; all-day events remind at 8 AM on the day or the night before.
See an orange Suggest button? That group lets only admins post. Your event goes to the admins as a suggestion instead, and they can add it to the calendar with one tap.
Posted a one-off event? It opens right away with an Invite people card: share the link or show the QR code, and people are in (and counted as coming) the moment they open it — you get a notification each time. Only you see who's coming, guests can't see each other, you can remove someone from the list, and you can reset the link if it gets around. One-off events don't appear on the Groups tab; they live on your calendar.
Add it to your iPhone Calendar
Open any event and tap Add to my calendar. Your iPhone's New Event screen opens with the details filled in: pick a calendar and tap Add.
Want every event from a group, kept up to date automatically? Open the group and tap Add to my Calendar app under iPhone Calendar. Subscribe once and new and changed events keep flowing in.
See who's going
Everyone else in the group can open your event and answer Are you going? with Going, Maybe or Can't go. People who are going can add how many others they're bringing under Bringing anyone?, so you know how many to expect. You don't need to answer events you post: you're listed as the host and counted as going.
The count shows on the event in your lists, like 6 going, and a small check, question mark or cross on the event's icon shows your own answer. Open the event to see who replied and who hasn't yet. When someone replies to an event you posted, you get a notification.
Want to know who's coming? Switch on Ask who's coming under Replies for a party, a game or anything people turn up to; they can then answer Going, Maybe or Can't go and you see a headcount. It's off to start with, because most things are just dates on the calendar, like Grandma's birthday or a school holiday. (One-off events always count who's in.)
Keep replies private? With replies on, switch off Show who's coming when you post the event, or later by editing it. Then only you can see who replied. Everyone else can still answer and sees just their own answer.
Repeating event? Your answer covers the date you opened. Check Same answer for all upcoming dates to answer the rest of the series at once.
Common questions
How do I change or delete an event?
Open the event and tap the pencil to edit it. To delete it, tap Delete event at the bottom, then tap again to confirm. You can edit and delete events you posted. Admins can also delete any event in their group.
Does the group hear when I change or cancel an event?
Yes. If you change an upcoming event's date, time or place, or delete it, everyone in its group gets a notification saying what changed, except anyone who already replied Can't go. Changing the name or the note doesn't send one. Deleting a whole repeating series sends one notification, not one per date.
How do I change just one date of a repeating event?
Open that date's event, tap the pencil, and under Apply changes to choose Only this event. Choose Whole series to change them all.
Can I change my RSVP?
Yes. Open the event and tap a different answer, or change how many people you're bringing. You can change it until the end of the day the event happens. Events you posted don't have an answer to change: you're the host, so you're counted as going.
Who can see my RSVP?
Everyone in the event's group can see who's going, who might go and who can't, and how many each person is bringing, unless the person who posted the event keeps replies private. Then only they can see who replied. The person who posted the event gets a notification when you reply. If you leave the group, your replies to its events are removed.
How do admins approve suggestions?
Suggestions show at the top of an admin's Home screen. Open one and tap Approve or Decline. Until then, only the admins and the person who suggested it can see it.
Why can't I tap Create Event?
Events live in groups, so you need to create or join one first. See Create a group or Join a group.
Can I hide one group's events?
Yes. Tap All groups at the top of Home or Calendar and pick the groups you want to see. This only changes your view, not anyone else's.
